Preserve the capital of your piano!
A piano, in addition to being a particularly durable musical instrument, is also a piece of furniture of often exceptional quality. It is not uncommon to find pianos over 100 years old in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition. However, such longevity is not the result of chance. It is first of all due to the quality of the execution of the assemblies associated with the quality of the materials that makes this exceptional lifespan possible. A piano is in itself a technological feat: let's not forget that a grand piano is made up of more than 10,000 different parts, made of materials such as wood, steel, felt, etc., and that the strings, when taut, impose more than 18 tons of tension on the structure. A piano therefore requires a form of respect. Then comes the notion of maintenance and protection. The significant sums invested in these instruments for enthusiasts deserve a minimum of attention. And despite the quality of the finishes and materials used, a piano remains a fragile instrument that deserves the greatest care, both in its use and in handling when moving. Thus, in order to preserve the value of this invested capital as well as the beauty and integrity of the furniture, Carat piano protections are the best solutions, particularly when moving or transporting pianos, whether upright or grand. Think about it when purchasing your piano or during a future move.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the covers really protect against dust and scratches?
Of course, our covers are specially designed to be dustproof, which guarantees the cleanliness of your piano. As for scratch resistance, all our covers are equipped with a “velvet” type coating that guarantees the protection of the surface of your piano against scratches.
Do the covers protect against shocks caused by transporting or moving the piano?
For maximum safety against shocks you can trust our Intermezzo and Maestro models. These two ranges have been developed with the risks involved when moving pianos ( the Intermezzo range in particular ) or when transporting pianos ( the Maestro range in particular ) in mind.
By choosing these product ranges, you are doing as the piano transport professionals who have been using our covers for almost 50 years and you are ensuring total peace of mind for its safety.
What materials are used to make your covers?
Carat piano covers are made from absolutely uncompromising materials such as Kodupa , Polyether foam, Fibertex , Iso-Ouate , Velours , etc.
- Kodupa is the outer layer of the Maestro and Intermezzo covers. It is a very high-end textile designed to protect against extreme abrasion and impacts. It is also waterproof to liquids with its specific PVC coating.
- The 20mm thick Polyether foam with a density of 27kg is perfectly suited to this use. The combination with Kodupa and our Iso_Ouate represents the ultimate in protection against shocks and friction. You have to have held a Maestro cover to understand the ability of this exceptional cover to protect the most prestigious pianos!
- Our Iso-Ouate is one of the main strengths of our Maestro cover. It is this, with its 4 layers of polyester and aluminized polyethylene, which ensures, in addition to the Polyether foam, the thermal insulation that the piano needs when it is moved over long distances leaving room for significant thermal variations. Its characteristics mean that temperature differences will be smoothed out so as not to subject the instrument to sudden temperature differences that could affect its integrity.
- Fibertex is a high-density synthetic fibre felt. With a thickness of 7mm, this high-end material, together with Kodupa, represents the heart of our protection system for the Intermezzo cover.
- Our Velvet , a material characterized by its softness, is placed in the cover to be in contact with the instrument in order to provide protection against scratches.
- Finally, for the Maestro and Intermezzo covers, we use 50 or 25mm wide Nylon straps, sewn by our craftsmen in such a way as to be durable and to allow the cover to be attached to the piano.
